2009 Playground Evaluation
Students Evaluation Results:
- 90% of the students strongly agree that playing on the Dreamcatcher Playground has caused them to be more understanding and accepting of children with disabilities.
- 90% of the students strongly agree that it is important that children with disabilities are able to get on the playground equipment with them.
- 68% of the students play on the Dreamcatcher Playground at times other than school hours.
- 93% of the parents strongly agree it is important to them that the Dreamcatcher Playground is handicapped accessible.
- 98% of the parents strongly agree the Dreamcatcher Playground is beneficial for the physical wellbeing of their child(ren).
- 78% of the parents stated that their child(ren) play at the Dreamcatcher Playground at times other than school hours.
- 100% of the teachers strongly agree that they see increased social interaction between able-bodied students and their disabled peers while on the Dreamcatcher Playground.
- 96% of the teachers strongly agree they see in their students an increased understanding/compassion for individuals with disabilities as a result of recess on the Dreamcatcher Playground.
- 92% of the teachers strongly agree they observe an increase in attention and ability to focus in their students after playing on the Dreamcatcher Playground.
