The Dreamcatcher Playground!

home>playground

This project has been many years in the planning, and Phase 1 of this $575,000 playground was constructed by a community of volunteers.

The next phases will extend the current play structure 3x larger, add a pre-school play structure, family picnic areas, a basketball court, an open field area for soccer, etc., a dramatic play area, a sand pit, a variety of swings including swings for babies, as well as full-support swings for the more severely involved, and multiple spring riders. Great care has been given to not only allow wheelchair access to the entire play structure and surrounding areas, but to provide transfer stations for those wishing to leave their wheelchairs behind and climb into the structure, making numerous slides useable for all. A wide walkway will circumnavigate the entire playground, providing accessibility for strollers, wheelchairs, and roller blades.

Most playgrounds do have barriers - barriers to children in wheelchairs, children with visual impairments, children who have difficulty pushing a walker through the pebbles and on uneven surfaces, barriers to a disabled parent or grandparent who wants to share a beautiful day with their children or grandchildren, and barriers to families who have one child who wants to run fast and climb high and another who can only sit, watch, and dream. Dreamcatcher Playground will help to erase those barriers.
